I came across a video link 'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ACFNNv4UR4&feature=player_embedded' in one of the websites that I frequently visit. This talks about Preity Zinta's reaction when the Punjab team won a match in IPL.
Anybody who understands Telugu can immediately see the kind of perversion with which the hosts in this Video clip talk and express. The perversion of the video editor is also obvious when he/she edited the video showing the part where Preity Zinta hugs the players, repeatedly.
While it is understandable that a friendly hug is not quite common among the public in India, I am sure even those that are not cultured(or groomed) enough to understand a hug, do not view that as obscene. However, from the way these hosts talk, they make the people who watch it feel like it is some kind of a obscene gesture and there is no bigger blunder than hugging in the public.
To add fuel to the way that these hosts were talking, Sunil Gavaskar, who interviews the skipper asks 'Which one is better? the Trophy or the Kiss from the beautiful lady' (or something like that). That is the least that would be expected from a Professional like him.
TV9 has to be socially responsible and understand that the content being broadcasted over television has a huge impact on the audience of various sections (Children, Teens & Youth especially).

Why people stick to a certain music / numbers as they grow old?
Well, as everybody, this is my opinion about why people (You, I & Everybody) stick to a certain kind of music / numbers as we grow old.
As a child or while being young, the mind is so adaptive that you can switch preferences at the speed of thought, all they have to do is wish. They listen to certain songs with huge passion for a while and when they begin to like some new songs, the old ones fade into oblivion. Not that they will live in oblivion forever, but just that they have to keep up with the trends, which is again kind of an obligation to the peer pressure, however as they grow, certain preferences set in, and people start having their own opinions regardless of what others around them think / say.
As they begin to get out of education and start looking for a job and get into one, the actual realities of life come in and people realize how much they actually enjoyed the school/college days and begin to think of those good old days. A part of it is remembering the things they have done (or experienced) and memories associated with it, of which Music is a part again. That is when they want (or try) to listen to that once liked music again and begin to appreciate how things have changed since they heard it the first time.
Usually, when young, elder people would always crib about the music that is being made and all that stuff and we wonder about why the elders aren;t very adaptive. In all probability, even they would have faced a similar situation with their elders when they were our age then. Now, as we begin to grow old, we also realise that we stick to certain kind of music / numbers due to the nostalgic nature of it. At the same time we also begin to explore the music that is older than even before we began in the first place. While growing there are a lot of nasty hormones that have to be used up and can be vented out by listening to music that will do it. Slow music cannot set off all the energy that the body has to spend during the formative years, however as we grow, the amount of energy that we can spend keeps reducing and also affects the kind of music that we listen to (usually soothing melodys) to be at peace.
I may be wrong, from what I have observed a lot of people that are into Rock (or heavy music) during youth do not sustain listening to the same kind of music. As always, there are always exceptions to nature (or rules). Some people listen to melodious music during their youth and some people still listen to rock or heavy music even as they grow old. Both kinds appreciate what ever they do at whatever age.

What does it Mean to Celebrate?
For those of you looking for an answer...I don't have one here...! you can either share your thoughts or move on.
Presumably, 4th July seemed to be a big day and I asked a couple of friends at the office about how it is celebrated? Everybody said, they would have a game/fireworks etc. That set the thought process of what celebrating really meant? When it is an independence that is being celebrated, I feel it should be in a true sense. I cannot mention anything in detail, coz I don't know.
Maybe, something like, free people from their credit burdens, provide them the freedom of not having to pay the late payment fee/service charges/tax on service charges. After all, credit card companies chase the customers until they take one. Once they have a customer in their bag, other internal departments take over the customer and try to lure him/her into so many schemes that most of the customers would fall into atleast one of them. After a certain point, a customer would realise there is no real value in that scheme and start sulking about how he could have avoided. The same goes with buying everything that you feel like having, start to think about how much a product is really utilised and worthy, before submitting yourself to your temptations.
This is similar to a ball that is rolled downhill on a snowy mountain which gathers all the snow around it and turns into a huge one which cannot be controlled. Just that probably snow may seem fun, but it does not feel really good when you have to pay a lot of money which you do not owe in the first place. I am assuming , when a person who has bad credit rating dies, that it does not affect his/her next generation or friends from securing loans.
Or, another way of celebrating independence is to provide financial freedom to deserving students who aspire to go to college or want to graduate from one. I know of situations where people sponsor candidates who go to elite schools, probably in the hope that they would be able to reap some benefits in the future. Not that most of such candidates have not gone through their share of problems and then turn out be really good later, but candidates from not so elite schools also should get such assistance, as some of them have a potentially worthy future. You never know, these kind of students can make this world a better place to live!
